Introduction

Bangalore also known as the “Garden City of India” is one of the best places for the ones who are in search for treks on the weekends. The moderate tropical climate of Bangalore makes it the best place for trekking. The geographic location of Bangalore is in such a way that you can find many plateaus in that region with a wide variety of flora and fauna. So, here I come up with the short treks available in Bangalore where you can go on weekends with your family and friends.

The list of the places is:

1.ChitraDurga Fort

ChitraDurga Fort is 200 Km from Bangalore located at an altitude of 3202ft above sea level. The difficulty level of the trip is easy to moderate. You can go on this trek with family members and friends as well. It is located in the district Chitradurga and is on the bank of river vedavati. The main attraction of this fort is that it had 19 gateways, 38 postern gates, 35 secret entrances and 4 invisible entrances. The scenery which a person gets after climbing all the way upto the fort really worth it. You can spot beers and leopards during the evening treks here. But the main remarkable spot is to reach the topmost area of the hadimba temple.

2. Halu Chilume Ganga temple

It is located around 60 km from Bangalore at an altitude of 3310ft above sea level. The difficulty level of the trek is from easy to moderate. It is located in the district of Mallasandra of Bangalore. The trek is an easy trail which has many adventures on the way. The climate of the locality is in such a way that you will find the same greenery throughout the year no matter what time you come. It becomes more pleasant during the monsoon when the sweet scent of the lemongrass graces during that time. Another highlight is the placement of the bells in the rocks in the bunches all around the place of worship which makes it even more interesting.

3. Pattabhi Rama temple

It is located around 55Km from Bangalore at an altitude of about 3000ft above sea level. The difficulty of the trek is moderate. It is basically located in Ramanagara which was well known as the silk city which is special for its famous silk market. Once in one of the hills called Ramagiri was used to film a scene for the movie Sholay which is 4 Km from the town. The temple here is dedicated to Lord Rama and was built during the Vijayanagar Empire. It is also famous for sites like fishing and rock climbing all of which are near to each other which attract many tourists yearly.

4. Kunti Betta

Kunti Betta is located 122Km from Bangalore at an altitude of 2880ft above sea level. The difficulty of the trek is moderate. This place is popular because it was the place where pandavas completed their 14 years exile in the epic Mahabharata. It is also known as Pandavapura. It is a moderate trekking which will take one day to complete and we can reach the place from the base area within 2 hours of climbing. It is also famous for beautiful ponds, forest treks, rappelling and rock climbing which are all done within the area itself. The best time to visit this area is around May-October. The famous Thonnur Lake is also located very close to this area; it is approximately about 4 km.

5. Channakeshava Betta

It is located about 60 Km from Bangalore at an altitude of about 1350ft above sea level. It is one of the short treks available near Bangalore which is about 3Km and will take about 2 hours to complete the trek, making it one of the short treks. The channagiri or popularly known as Channakeshava betta is the famous hill located in the range of Nandi hills. It has an ancient Omkareshwar temple at the top which acts as a tourist attraction. It also has a Pinakini River in the north which makes it even more interesting to watch the scenario. During the monsoon times the trek becomes more difficult due to the thorns and shrubs we found in this area which grow enormously during the monsoon season.

So, these are some of the best short Treks available near Bangalore where you can go during the weekends and get yourself free from the busy schedule of the city life and spend time with nature.
